Mark lives an economically depressed part of Edinburgh with a few prospects. He is a young man with fewer ambitions. Like most of his friends, he is also a heroin addict. The feel of nothingness provided by the heroin is one of the major factors he can’t quit. He also finds his life challenging and exciting trying to finance his habits. He thinks his life lacks excitement if he doesn’t use heroin. He has two friends who are also junkies. He couldn’t find peace in this kind of a life. Later on, he finds a job and could find something close to peace of mind.
